I’m lovin’ it
The Olympic games have started. I’m sure that the most of you have seen wonderful opening few days ago. While hundreds of competitors spend their time under the Sun, while it’s incredibly warm outside, many of us(including myself) will enjoy time on a beach relaxing. Honestly, considering these high temperature, I’m not sure it’s good for those people to force their bodies to the limit.Everyone chooses their path, but this one might be very dangerous.
Anyway, I’ve been talking to my friends about what food are we going to eat during the vacation, and many of them consider fast food to be a fine option. I disagree, but, oh well… Anyway, one of their arguments is that even McDonald’s have included some new and different meals in their restaurant menu. For the first time at the Olympic Games, McDonald’s is offering Happy Meals, which include the options of a fruit or vegetable and low-fat dairy. This reflects the global popularity of McDonald’s evolving Happy Meal, as more than 95 percent of restaurants globally offer balanced Happy Meal choices such as kiwi on a stick, carrot flowers, corn cups, apple slices, and low-fat milk.
If you ask me, however, that is still not a Olympic Games menu. After all, those games came from Greece, so, some dishes for Greek cuisine should take their places on every menu.
Summer wine
“Strawberries cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things…”
There are several singers who used this lyrics for their songs. I must say, I don’t know how can anyone drink wine and some other stronger alcoholic drinks during the summer, I mean, those drinks activate some sort of fire within you, and it’s already pretty much warm outside. Beer is ok, for it’s refreshing, especially cold, but this… Well, we all have our own taste, after all.
I can’t say that I’m some wine expert, so I have found a list of 25 best wines for summer recommended from someone who actually knows something about it. The whole list you can see at /articles/25-best-wines-for-summer. Some of those wines are recommended for addition to your dish, and some others you can find in your restaurant menu, to refresh you while are waiting for a meal.
Also, I could use this opportunity to represent you yet another restaurant application, called FOOD & WINE Cocktails. What does this app do? It offers recipes for more than 350 outstanding drinks by America’s best mixologists, plus great party food, essential cocktail-making tips, a comprehensive spirits guide and a definitive listing of America’s top 100 bars and lounges. What I can say with only one look at it is that it’s nicely designed, very compatible, and I’m also very glad that it has a warning that only those above 17 years are allowed to download it.
Well, I hope I helped you with your wine selection, but still, I think it would be a lot better to wait for autumn or at least the end of the summer to consume alcoholic beverages. I don’t want to implicit the disaster of the wine sellers, but I’m not sure how healthy it is to be consumed in this weather condition. At this time I think it’s a lot better to simply consume water and juices(but only natural ones), for they can refresh you a lot better.
Brains, brains, brains…
Several weeks ago I wrote an article about restaurant games. I’ve just discovered another one, and it’s description is so funny to me that I just had to write yet another article about restaurant games. It’s called Zombie restaurant, and in order to play the game you have to cook zombie meals to protect the city from hungry zombies!
You can play this game for free. It starts when a lot of zombies gets up from their graves and enter your restaurant. You have to feed them appropriate dishes at your restaurant to avoid them take over the city. Learn various recipes to serve Zombies and get them to return to their graves! They’ll go back only when they are full. You can also decorate your restaurant the way you like, by choosing over 200 items of tables, chairs, and walls! You can play this game with your friends, you can visit their restaurants and help them to get over the crisis if they’re in one.Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?
The other reason I decided to wrote about this restaurant game application is that I find zombies to be the funniest of all the undead creatures. Really, have you ever considered a zombie movie for a really scary one? And the idea of serving them to keep them calm? It’s just funny!
Ness
Oh well, when I’ve first hear about this my first association was closely connected to a Loch Ness monster. It feels as it was only yesterday when I was a small child obsessed with the idea of the mythical creature living deep beneath the surface of the lake. But, Ness I want to talk about is yet another restaurant application.
This application track down restaurants that are the most suitable for you based on your taste. It learn from each and every meal you eat. Unlike most of the apps, who simply make a search over some of the choices you made this app is actually becoming more smarter after every choice you make. On the end, without mistake it can easily find the restaurant from your dream. The more you use Ness, more personalized it will become.
It is so easy to track objects, isn’t it? It is so easier to find a perfect restaurant, perfect car, perfect house, and yet, it is so hard to find your true love, you partner for life. Sometimes it’s even hard to find a perfect roommate. I guess it’s just because it’s impossible to create an algorithm that can defines human emotions.
Monkey business
Have you ever thought of how would your life be if the human race had not evolved? Of course, if you don’t believe in Darwin’s theory of evolution, then you probably do not believe that, a long time ago, humans were apes. Personally, I do believe in that theory. After all, it is enough to see how wild humans still are, so it seems quite believable that we are animals at the core. Some say that animals do not have a soul or a mind, but I believe that they have them, just that they do not show it the way we do.
Anyway, what I wanted to talk about are bananas. I’ve just eaten a banana ice-cream, so you can expect me to write something about them. After all, from where would I be getting inspiration if not from food? Considering our topics here, it seems to be normal. So, what banana recipes do we know? Which can be found in a restaurant menu? Most of us know about banana bread, also bananas are very common in a salad, and there is an interesting idea from Chinese restaurants: Candied Banana Fritters. Batter-covered bananas are deep-fried and coated in a syrupy glaze. Recipe for this delicious meal you can find here /od/dessertsfruit/r/candiedbananas.htm.
Honestly, I prefer bananas in their natural form, and usually I eat them for breakfast, because they are full of calories.
What do you want from a frog?
“Once upon a time in a kingdom of far, far away…” That’s how the story of the princess and a frog starts. That is for sure one of the most popular stories ever to be told, in a way very similar to Beauty and the Beast, but with not so much dark shadows. In that story what was necessary for the happy end was the lips of the frog. This sounds really gross, doesn’t it? I’ve already lost my appetite. Which can be really bad when you’re in France, for you might lose you chance to try their well known dish.
And yes, I’m talking about a dish that is very often seen in a french restaurant menus, and for which you need a frog legs. And, the dish is called “Frog legs”. They could be more creative when it comes to the name, but, oh well. A type of frog called the edible frog is most often used for this dish. They are often said to taste like chicken because of their mild flavor, with a texture most similar to chicken wings. Frogs are raised commercially in certain countries, e.g. Vietnam. I don’t know why the other countries consumers of this and other frog dishes do not do the same, because many environmentalists urge the restriction of frog consumption—especially those harvested from the wild—because amphibian populations are declining and frogs are essential element of ecosystem.
Honestly, I don’t know. If the consuming of the certain species leads to it’s extinction, then how we still have cows, sheep, chickens? I guess everything can be solved, if people sit and consider all of the options.
Restaurant at home
You know those days when you have just returned from the job, you’re too tired to go out for a dinner, and too tired to cook? At those moments, we usually just make up a sandwiches, but we all know it’s not the healthier kind of food. At those moments then, the best option is definitely to pick up the phone and call a delivery service.
It doesn’t have to be fast food, because many restaurants have a delivery service for some of their meals. Of course, some that are harder to transport can not be simply delivered over a few miles, so those are not available. For that, I’d like to inform you about restaurant app called Aptito. It is a nifty and easy-to-use application that you offer for free as a download on your main website. It’s an integrated system that features a digital menu that users can browse and place orders from for delivery from your restaurant using tablets (Android/iPad) or iPhone digital menus and Android restaurant menus to conveniently browse your lavish offerings and place orders for delivery. Sounds easy, isn’t it?
So, use this restaurant app, relax and enjoy! Your dinner will be at your table very soon!
Let there be light
How do you imagine a perfect, romantic dinner? With music, flowers, candels? How about a lanterns? Honestly, I haven’t thought about it unill I saw some photos of dinning table with lantern on it, so I thought: “Oh, my, this looks wonderfull!”
I don’t know who came up with such an idea, but it was good, for sure! There are thousands of variations of lantern lookings. Designs are so different that can definitely satisfy the taste of the most cricical guests. It is a fact that for smaller tables it is better to simply have a small candle, then a big lantern, but, I do hope that in most of the restaurants tables are not trouble. Also, good thing about lanterns is that they can burn for hours. On the other hand, you have to change candles on every few hours. It can be a pretty messed up if you have a lot of people at the time.
On the end, who wins? There are a lot of people who say that the best solution are LED lamps. Sure, for many things yes, but, when it comes to economy, but when it comes to romantic? Only if could control a strenght of the light over some restaurant application? But, it’s still not the same…
Don’t forget the Android
In the last few posts, I’ve only talked about restaurant applications for iPhone. Now, let’s share some tips with the Android restaurant applications.
Zagat. Unusual name, and I have no idea what does it means. Honestly. I could probably use a google to get the answer, but I really do not like to pretend to be all-knowing. Anyway, Zagat is an application that gives you the rating of a certain restaurant. That’s how users have a chance to pick the best-rated restaurants with ease according to location, type of cuisine, and price. Ratings describe the food, decor, and service. Zagat can be a great app for extremely busy professionals who avoid risky choices and want to rely on refined ratings. This can be very important especially if you have to go on a dinner with some business partners. Zagat App comes at a price of $9.99, but if you consider that a decent meal for two can cost anywhere from $20-50, it is not such a bad deal, and, not to mantion, considering how important it can be in many situations, I don’t think that the persons who really need this app would make a problem about it.
You know, sometimes, especially in the movies, the best restaurants are represented as if they are the most beautifully decorated, to have only the good-looking workers…but, the true quality has nothing to do with the first look impression. That is also why apps like this one can be very useful.
Money, money, money…
“…must be funny, in the rich man’s world.”
I must say, of all songs ABBA has ever made, this is probably the only one without love, true love for a person, I’d like to add. These days have become really hard, we had economic crisis, so many natural disasters, but still… Am I one of the rare persons who are not obsessed with money, and why is that? Is everything ok with me?
Some friends of mine sometimes tells me that I’m actually very obsessed with money, especially when we’re in a caffe or a restaurant, when it comes to tips. I mean, I don’t know, not so long ago I’ve worked as a waitress, but I never took a tip for myself, for, well, I’m actually paid for the job. Anyway, I never pay attention on how much money I want to live for a tip, but I simply make it round off. Sometimes they say it’s too much, sometimes, it’s not enough… Who can say what is the right tip? Should I even waste my time and energy on such matter, considering the fact that I’ve actually paid my bill? I don’t know…anyway, if you have the same problem, here’s something that just might help you: Tipulator. Tipulator lets you easily calculate restaurant tips on your iPhone and iPod touch. Take the guesswork out of restaurant tipping. Enter the bill amount, select a percentage, and Tipulator will calculate your tip.
Honestly, this one I’m going to pass. There is a lot of restaurant apps I find useful, but this one is not among them. I have no trouble with calculus, I can calculate this a lot faster then I can turn on a iPhone…
